Oven at 350ºF

2 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 cups water
1 tbsp butter
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp rum flavor
cake
2 cups flour
1 cup white sugar
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup whole milk
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans
1. Preheat oven to 350º.
2. For the sauce: combine brown sugar, water, butter, and salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and rum flavor. Set aside.
3. For the cake: combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt
in a large bowl and mix well. Combine milk, melted butter, and vanilla in a small bowl. Add liquid ingredients to the dry and blend quickly.
4. Spread cake batter in greased 13×9 pan and pour sauce over top. Do not mix. Sprinkle pecans on top.
5. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until center bubbles up. Serve warm.
